Hey Guys, just wondering what gear is good for the “British weather” as i am getting a new sinnis cafe soon, my budget is around £400 for boot, jacket, trouters, and a helmet, i don’t know much but what do you guys recon will that be enough for all that?
Like anything in life it all depends on what brands you buy from, as some are more expensive than others. My helmet cost £250, so if you were to spend the same then that’s more than half your budget gone right there. Just remember though, don’t substitute safety for style. I know some people like to look cool riding in just jeans and a thin leather jacket, but if you come off you’re going to want the best possible protection for your body. Certainly buy a good helmet, read reviews and try a few on, deffo get a good waterproof jacket that has armour in the back, shoulders and elbows. Also a good pair of kevlar jeans with armour in the knees and hips are worth the extra money. Riding boots too, don’t want to break your shins!
I hope this has helped in someway! Safe travels!
Iv just got some trousers and a jacket from hunter class just under £100 the pair They was a recommendation from my brother who been using his just over a year .
Managed to get cought in some very heavy rain and they kept me warm and dry they have removable linnets in so can be worn summer and winter
the range is limited but all made to work with its self trousers (have high waste and braces to help keep them up and you warm/dry)can be zipped up to The jacket and the quality is very good
I can’t recommend armoured gear enough, I was wearing some when I got knocked off my bike last year – some guy in a car went straight into the front wheel of my bike while accelerating away after undertaking someone, and I’m sure my knees/back would have been smashed beyond repair by the fall if I hadnt’ve been wearing pants and a jacket with protective armour in.
You don’t think it will happen, I didn’t, but everyone has a bit of a smash at one point, just make sure you’re prepared for when it happens!
I agree with Incheye, … I will not ride without all my gear on…. I see too many people of all ages riding bikes of all sizes and types wearing just helmet, trainers, cut up jeans and a tea shirt and no gloves !! it makes my hair stand on end as far as gear is concerned get the best you can afford end of, however, Aldi/liddl do some very cheap but very good riding kit occasionally just keep an eye out for their weekly deals …..
